a long journey
that's what it was, the first part of this film that felt like a real tour de force.
i'm back home from a short working trip to hamburg. now the summerpart is finished, we will continue later this year, in october.
it's good to have a break, even with starting the next filmproject on monday.
my dear family travelled to spain, i am scanning the internet in search of cheep flights to join them for a long weekend.
now i will enjoy one of the rare moments at home alone, ignoring any duties until tomorrow.
all pictures have been taken in finland and hamburg.

life & nature
the knitted jumper was another last minute costume. Lou just tried it on before i left the house to finish it on set and wanted to be photographed on the stripy carpet.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
we bought the caravan because we wanted to join some friends at a very special non-commercial camping place, beautifully situated near a forest at a lake with an old ballroom, the owners house and their spartanic but welcoming kitchen. they just accept few people to stay for a longer period and we already made the deal.
last weekend, during a heavy thunderstorm a man was killed there in his tent by a tree that fell on him, a horrible accident that made the owners rethink their situation. they decided to give up the camping business.
now we have to accept their decision, the first weekend we wanted to go there with our small mobile summerhouse.
we went there today, all of us, just to visit, they have been very grateful but not willing to change their mind.
it's so beautiful and quiet there. hard to understand that nature is cruel too.

heatwave
yesterday i came back home, welcomed by an incredible heat.
we went straight to our new place at the lake, i took my first bath this year but the kids were living in the water since days!
i am still adjusting, it has been crazy up in the north, traveling, preparing, shooting and not much sleep.
more work and trouble back home but i am so happy to be back with my family.
more from finland soon.

beauty
i discovered this beauty early this day at a shop where they are making coats for us.
it hung there, meant to be admired, it wasn't for sale and i completely understood why, it made me remember again why i am in love with textiles which i could easily forget a couple of days before shooting.
tomorrow i will be leaving to the north of finland.
happy and sad for the obvious reasons and because i really, really do enjoy the heat we finally have here now.
