kochstetten

Today we visited the weekendhouse my father planned and built in the late 60ies for his uncle Otto, now owned by his daughter and her sons and grandchildren.
My parents still have a key too. I haven't been there since my early childhood, so many memories were coming back, it was such a joy to show lou all the little secrets of the house like the stairs that lead to the hidden bed above the kitchen, the many things/toys O used to make as a crafting genius like the little wooden figures, the little carpets on the bench and, and , and...
I was very surprised how much I memorized because we just went there the first years and so have been my parents, but when I asked my father if he would be willing to plan a similar house for us near berlin if we, perhaps sometimes would be able to afford to build he did not react. He might not have understood how much I appreciated it, then and today.

haaaaagspiiieeel!!! i love this place and all of my friends know about it because it is such an important part of my childhood memories. what a touching idea to ask ch to bulid a bungalow for you (and us? :) next to berlin one day. and how sad he didn't take it seriously. or do you think he just don't think in that kind of architecture / design anymore and doesn't appreciate it himself?
i envy you for having been there. thank you so much for the pics, now i can show my friends.

oh kochstetten, yes isn't it the best house ever? i always loved it, loved the loft bed above the kitchen seating area, so cosy to be sent to bed there while all adults are still sitting around the table and chat... and to climb up on the stone steps next to the chimney was as great as being up there! i think it is true that we never told chr. how much we all love this house and how it became "the house" for all of us (and i am sure for all other visitors and relatives as well). we need to let him know. please tell him, kuss, d

Diese Stufen und das Bett auf der Empore sind sagenhaft.

Dream house! How incredible that you got to play in it as a kid and adult.

oh I was so unhappy with the quality of the pictures, I would have liked to post a lot more , to show you the hole house, it is so simple and clever, for opening and closing there are wooden sliding doors as high as the bungalow..., yes, it is just a masterpiece of a small summerhouse, I told him again, the grumpy father, but he just advised me not to build a weekend house and did not get the compliment...pah. But I enjoyed your excitment, thanks
and he was considering taking better pictures and was at least inspired for this by my attention for ks.
back home and relieved by rain from humid heat. read and see you soon ladys

i want to write something more thoughtful, but quickly:
the place looks wonderful, wonderful that it still exists and all the things in there, and talk to your father again!

hejhej, was missing your blog a bit, big bit; and happy to read it again, and see the stairs; they are so obvious in front of one but hidden by their double function, really clever, hidden and not hidden; I guess your father is an architect and has gotten a lot of comments about his work already, but please tell him that the pictures are a pleasure; yesterday I was going through the yellow pages to find architects in berlin, what an exhausting and often disappointing almost-work. where are they hidden? greet you
